While his 20-goal haul for his club has understandably drawn attention, the Israeli international demonstrated he brings more than just finishing prowess during his country’s dramatic away win over Estonia.
In a tightly contested match, Turgeman played a crucial role in turning the tide for Israel after they fell behind early. Rather than finding the net himself, he turned provider, laying on a well-timed assist for strike partner Dan Biton to level the score just eight minutes after going a goal down. That moment proved pivotal as Biton struck again to give Israel the lead, before Mohammad Abu Fani sealed the comeback with a late penalty.
While Turgeman showed the value of his all-round attacking play, Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin also made headlines on international duty—albeit in a frustrating evening for Belgium. The Red Devils were held to a disappointing draw by North Macedonia, who grabbed a late equalizer with under five minutes to play.
Raskin, who once again started for Belgium, voiced his frustration post-match. Speaking to local media, he said, “It’s quite frustrating—we never felt threatened in the second half, yet we failed to close the game out. We had chances to kill it, but didn’t take them.”
He highlighted the difficulty of breaking down a defensively compact opponent, adding, “They played deep, slid well, were aggressive—it wasn’t unexpected, but conceding that goal changed everything. It wasn’t our best performance, but far from the worst.”
The midfielder acknowledged the impact of substitutions, which brought fresh energy and saw Belgium briefly regain control. However, he admitted a lapse in focus cost them dearly: “We probably got too comfortable, lost concentration, and paid for it. North Macedonia were just waiting to counter.”
Looking ahead to a critical clash with Wales, Raskin emphasized the need for urgency: “We have no choice now—we need all three points.”
