While the sale wasn’t unexpected—Ait-Nouri had long been considered a potential high-value departure—many within the Wolves fanbase have voiced frustration over the final fee, which was seen as falling short of his full market potential.
In their search for a suitable replacement, Wolves are tracking Clement Bischoff, a standout performer at Brondby. However, there’s renewed optimism that a more familiar face could fill the void — Hugo Bueno.
The young Spaniard spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, after falling behind Ait-Nouri in the pecking order under former boss Gary O’Neil. During his time in the Netherlands, Bueno made 30 appearances and showed enough to convince onlookers he’s ready for the Premier League.
According to Dutch football journalist Mikos Gouka, Wolves could be bringing back a far more mature and capable player. In an interview with the Express & Star, Gouka stated:

While Gouka praised Bueno’s overall development, he rated the defender’s loan stint a 7 out of 10, citing injuries as a limiting factor. Feyenoord endured a turbulent campaign — marked by a mid-season coaching change and falling short in the Eredivisie title race — and Bueno’s absence during key fixtures raised mild concerns.
Still, Robin van Persie and other observers have applauded the 21-year-old’s mental resilience and professional growth.
Now under the guidance of new Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, Bueno is expected to be closely evaluated during pre-season. The Spaniard remains deeply committed to the club and is eager to earn a regular starting role.
While questions remain over his injury history, the signs are promising. Wolves may still seek another option at left-back for depth, but **Bueno’s determination and improved game sense have made a compelling case for his reintegration into the first team.
