Sunderland have revealed that Megan Borthwick, Jenna Dear, Mary McAteer, Grace Ede, and Amy Goddard will leave the club when their contracts conclude this month.

They join veteran defenders Megan Beer and Grace McCatty, who are retiring after distinguished careers, in exiting the Wearsiders this summer.

Grace Ede, a midfielder who progressed through Sunderland’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC), has spent her entire career with the club.

Meanwhile, Borthwick, Dear, McAteer, and Goddard all joined the team in 2023.

In positive squad developments, five key players—Eleanor Dale, Katie Kitching, Libbi McInnes, Katy Watson, and Ellen Jones—have signed new contracts, securing their futures with The Lady Black Cats.

This ensures 14 first-team players are contracted for the upcoming season.

Additionally, five academy players will depart as their development with Sunderland concludes.
