Wolves have officially secured the permanent signing of Norwegian striker Jørgen Strand Larsen in a £23 million deal following his impressive loan spell from Celta Vigo last season.
The 25-year-old forward, who initially joined the club on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy, has now committed his future to Wolves until 2029. The deal, which includes an initial £2.5 million loan fee and a further £23 million transfer payment, was triggered early in the campaign after Larsen met performance-related clauses.
Strand Larsen made an immediate impact in his debut Premier League season, netting 14 goals and setting a new club record for goals scored by a Wolves player in their first top-flight season – surpassing Raul Jimenez’s 13-goal tally from 2018/19.
Reflecting on his first year at Molineux, the striker said he was proud of his progress, particularly after overcoming injuries and a brief dip in form. He credited head coach Vitor Pereira and his staff for helping him rediscover his scoring touch, bagging eight of his 14 goals after the managerial change.
“It’s been a really good first season,” said Larsen. “I’ve adapted quicker than I ever have in a new league or country. The team relied on me to deliver goals, and I’m happy I delivered – especially after coming back from some tough moments.”
Looking ahead to the new campaign, Larsen emphasized the importance of a full pre-season under Pereira to build on last season’s momentum. He believes that extra time on the training ground will help the squad fine-tune its chemistry and sharpen its tactics for the challenges ahead.
“We showed last season we can compete with anyone,” he added. “Now it’s about consistency and pushing further. With the talent and mentality we have, we can build something strong.”
Wolves will begin pre-season training at Compton next week as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign, with fans hoping Larsen’s permanent move marks the beginning of an even more prolific spell in front of goal.
