Fabian Hurzeler Reveals When Brighton’s £50M Wonder Duo Will Finally Make Debut – Fans Eager as Teen Strikers Near Pre-Season Return
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has provided a much-anticipated update on when fans can expect to see the club’s new £50 million strike duo in action for the first time this pre-season.
Teen sensations Stefanos Tzimas and Charalampos Kostoulas, who joined Brighton this summer for a combined fee of around £50 million, have yet to feature in the Seagulls’ pre-season campaign.
Tzimas, 19, arrived from German side FC Nürnberg for a reported £22 million, while 18-year-old Kostoulas made the switch from Olympiacos for a fee believed to be around £30 million.
Despite Brighton’s strong start to pre-season—recording a 6-1 thrashing of Wycombe Wanderers and a 3-1 victory over Stoke City—the young Greek talents have remained absent from the pitch.
Instead, they have been undergoing individualised fitness regimes to prepare them for the unique intensity of Hurzeler’s training philosophy.
Ahead of Brighton’s friendly against Spanish side Las Palmas in the Costa del Sol, Hurzeler confirmed that neither striker would be involved once again, stressing that their full integration is being carefully managed.
> “They’re working extremely hard,” Hurzeler told *Sky Sports*. “This training environment is very different from what they’re used to, so we’re helping them adapt physically and tactically.”
The Brighton boss revealed that the upcoming friendly against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday, August 2, is a more realistic target for the pair’s first involvement in match action. After that, the Seagulls will face Wolfsburg on August 9 before kicking off their Premier League campaign against Fulham on August 16.
Hurzeler praised the teenagers’ attitude and potential:
