Rangers’ pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has taken a twist, as fresh clarification has emerged regarding reports of a substantial loan-to-buy offer.
The Scottish giants remain busy in the transfer market as they look to reinforce their squad for a demanding campaign, which has already kicked off with Champions League qualifiers against Panathinaikos.
Strengthening in multiple areas remains a priority, with a goalkeeper search – including failed attempts to land Brighton’s Carl Rushworth – already highlighting their ambition.
One of the latest targets to emerge is 22-year-old Rak-Sakyi. Initial reports on Thursday suggested Rangers had submitted a loan offer for the winger, complete with a potential obligation to buy valued around £10 million.
However, journalist Chris Jack has poured cold water on those claims, insisting there is **“no £10m clause”** attached to the proposal.
Such a fee would represent a major outlay for Rangers, who have largely targeted value signings from the English market this summer.
Despite the confusion, the Ibrox outfit remain very interested in Rak-Sakyi, who is also being closely monitored by Southampton – managed previously by current Rangers boss Russell Martin.
Rak-Sakyi, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, impressed in flashes but couldn’t help the Blades avoid a difficult campaign. He previously enjoyed a more fruitful loan spell with Charlton Athletic in 2022/23.
With two years left on his Crystal Palace deal, the London club hold a strong negotiating position. It remains unclear what kind of deal would be acceptable to let the winger leave this summer, but interest is certainly building.
As the transfer window heats up, Rangers face a competitive battle for Rak-Sakyi’s signature – and any final agreement may come down to how flexible Palace are willing to be with their terms.
