Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has been vocal in his support of Farke, rejecting earlier criticism of the German coach. Sutton believes the calls for Farke’s dismissal were unfair, given the circumstances Leeds faced early in the season.

The criticism he faced was often unjust, especially after enduring tough matches against City, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Some were seemingly hoping for him to fail, but Leeds have shown resilience, quality, and determination—even in defeat at City. Points against Chelsea and Liverpool, coupled with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s decisive goals, have revitalized the squad. They go into Brentford with belief and confidence that they can compete.”
Reflecting on Farke’s history, Sutton recalled the German manager’s previous win over Brentford with Norwich City in November 2021—a victory that was immediately followed by his dismissal. Despite this, Sutton emphasizes that Farke’s current position at Leeds is secure, even if Brentford are favorites.
“Brentford remain strong at home, boasting five wins, a draw, and a single defeat under Keith Andrews,” Sutton explained. “While they struggled against Spurs away, their home performances against Liverpool, Newcastle, and Burnley have been impressive. I expect them to win this one, but Leeds’ recent resurgence means Farke’s future should not be questioned.”
Leeds will need to maintain the high standards they showed against Chelsea and Liverpool to challenge Brentford’s formidable home record. While a draw might feel like a cautious target, it could be a realistic aim given Leeds’ struggles on the road.
