Everton have officially added Chelsea winger Tyrique George to their ranks, completing a late loan deal that had also drawn interest from Sunderland during the closing stages of the January transfer window.
The highly rated teenager had been discussed as a possible target for the Black Cats as deadline day approached, but it was the Toffees who ultimately secured his signature. The move was finalised shortly after the 7pm cut-off on Monday, with Everton submitting a deal sheet in time to gain an extension and complete all the necessary paperwork. The agreement runs until the end of the season and includes an option to make the transfer permanent.
Speaking to Everton’s official channels, George made it clear why Merseyside appealed to him. He described his excitement at joining what he called a “massive club” and said he is eager to get started as soon as possible. Another decisive factor in his decision was manager David Moyes. George explained that Moyes’ track record of developing top players, including Wayne Rooney, played a big role in his thinking. After speaking briefly with the Everton boss, the Chelsea loanee said he was impressed not only by Moyes’ experience but also by him as a person, and is keen to learn under his guidance and continue improving his game.
