According to former Tottenham scout Mick Brown, pressure is mounting on sporting director Johan Lange following a series of questionable decisions.
Lange played a key role in appointing both Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, moves that have contributed to Tottenham’s current difficulties and the club once again searching for managerial solutions.
At the same time, Spurs have reportedly begun the process of recruiting a second sporting director as part of a restructuring plan that would see the new appointment work alongside Lange.
Lange’s Decisions Under Scrutiny
Reports from Football Insider suggest that Lange’s position could become increasingly complicated if he continues to work alongside Fabio Paratici, with both figures facing criticism for several controversial decisions.
Lange has previously faced heavy criticism for his spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa, and similar doubts are now being raised about his influence at Tottenham.
Brown questioned some of the club’s choices, stating that it is difficult to understand the reasoning behind several key decisions. He argued that the sporting director’s calls—particularly in recruitment and managerial appointments—have played a major role in Tottenham’s current predicament.
Brown also pointed to Lange’s track record, claiming his previous roles at Wolves and Aston Villa were unsuccessful and suggesting the situation at Tottenham has followed a similar pattern.
Tottenham’s Relegation Concerns
Since taking interim charge, Tudor has lost all three of his matches, including the latest defeat against Crystal Palace. As a result, Tottenham now sit just one point above the relegation zone.
According to a report published on March 6 by Football Insider, Spurs could even be forced to dismiss Tudor if results fail to improve, as the club fights to preserve its top-flight status.
Brown believes the club must begin reassessing the people responsible for key decisions, especially if they plan to restructure their football operations. In his view, a full overhaul of the backroom staff could be necessary.
Pressure Mounts on Tudor
One of Lange’s latest decisions as sporting director was the appointment of Tudor on an interim basis, with the task of guiding Tottenham away from relegation danger.
However, if the Croatian coach cannot quickly improve results, the club may be left with little option but to seek another managerial change. Poor performances on the pitch, along with some controversial comments in press conferences, have already seen patience among supporters and decision-makers begin to wear thin.
