Interim manager Igor Tudor was appointed last month with the task of stabilising Spurs’ season, guiding them away from the relegation battle in the Premier League while also keeping their hopes alive in the UEFA Champions League. However, his tenure has quickly turned into a nightmare, and the 5–2 defeat to the side managed by Diego Simeone has only intensified doubts over his future.
One of Tudor’s most controversial decisions was selecting young goalkeeper Antonín Kinský, handing him just his third appearance of the season and his first since October. With Guglielmo Vicario struggling for form, the Croatian opted to take a gamble on the 22-year-old—but the move quickly backfired.
Tottenham were already 3–0 down within 15 minutes, with Kinský directly responsible for two of the early goals. Shortly after the third went in, Tudor decided to substitute the young goalkeeper, who walked down the tunnel alongside three teammates as Spurs’ disastrous evening unfolded.
The situation worsened when Tottenham conceded again to trail 4–0 after just 22 minutes, marking their second major collapse in less than a week. Although Spurs showed some improvement in the second half, the damage had long been done.
A Tough Night for Kinský
While sympathy may be extended to Kinský given the difficult circumstances, his performance proved costly. Despite the humiliation of being substituted so early, Tudor’s decision to remove him may have been the only way to protect the goalkeeper from further scrutiny.
Whether the Czech shot-stopper can recover from such a damaging moment in a Spurs shirt remains uncertain, though he was far from the only player to come under criticism following the defeat.
Kolo Muani Under Fire
Forward Randal Kolo Muani has also faced intense criticism after another ineffective display. The striker previously worked with Tudor at Juventus FC, raising hopes that he might thrive under the Croatian again. Instead, his recent performances have been disappointing.
Against Atlético, the French international struggled to influence the match and was substituted at half-time after a particularly poor display, reportedly receiving a 1/10 rating from one publication.
Tottenham had high expectations when they secured Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint‑Germain last summer, given his reputation and previous goal-scoring record. At 27, he should be entering the prime of his career, but his impact in north London has been minimal.
The striker has scored only once in 23 domestic appearances this season, with his most productive performances coming in the Champions League, where he has netted three goals.
With Tottenham battling to avoid relegation, the team urgently needs players willing to fight for the badge in the closing stages of the campaign. Based on his current form, many feel Kolo Muani has not shown those qualities and may not feature again before returning to PSG at the end of the season.
