AliousFormer Harry Redknapp has dismissed the possibility of returning to manage Tottenham Hotspur as pressure continues to mount on interim head coach Igor Tudor following another damaging defeat.
Tottenham’s struggles deepened after a chaotic 5–2 loss to Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, prompting the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) to call for “emergency action” as the club’s situation worsens.
Despite the growing criticism, Spurs confirmed Tudor would still address the media during Friday’s scheduled pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s difficult trip to face Liverpool FC. The Croatian manager has overseen four consecutive defeats since taking charge, leaving his position under serious threat. However, sources told ESPN that he is expected to remain in charge for the match at Anfield.
Redknapp, who previously managed Tottenham, admitted he would welcome a return but does not expect the club to approach him. Speaking to the Press Association at Cheltenham, he acknowledged that a comeback is highly unlikely despite having been asked about it several times.
Tudor’s difficult start has already placed him in the club’s history books for the wrong reasons. The defeat made him the first Tottenham manager to lose his opening four matches in charge, while the team has now suffered six consecutive losses in all competitions for the first time ever.
Although Tudor has only been in the role for 26 days, he avoided discussing his future after the defeat. Redknapp, meanwhile, warned that Tottenham face a tough battle to avoid relegation, noting that rivals such as Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are currently performing well.
Redknapp joked that his focus is now on his horse, “The Jukebox Man,” competing in the Gold Cup, insisting he has no involvement with Spurs anymore. He added that the club has not contacted him, though he hopes both Tottenham and West Ham manage to stay in the Premier League.
Spurs fans demand urgent action
Tottenham’s humiliating defeat in Madrid produced several unwanted records, including the early substitution of goalkeeper Antonín Kinský after just 17 minutes following two costly mistakes.
The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust condemned the performance, describing it as a “total disgrace” and a reflection of the club’s current crisis. In a strongly worded statement, the group warned that Tottenham are “sleepwalking towards disaster” and urged the board to act immediately.
Supporters also demanded that fans who travelled to Madrid should be refunded for their match tickets due to the poor performance.
Sherwood delivers another brutal assessment
Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood also criticised Tudor, describing him as “a firefighter holding a can of petrol.” Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Sherwood questioned the manager’s tactical decisions and constant changes to the team’s formation.
According to Sherwood, Tudor has switched repeatedly between systems, including three-at-the-back and four-at-the-back formations, while deploying players out of position. He believes these constant adjustments have done little to improve confidence within the squad.
Sherwood added that rather than calming the situation, Tudor’s decisions appear to be worsening the crisis. He suggested Tottenham could consider another managerial change during the upcoming international break following their match against Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham head into Sunday’s clash against Liverpool sitting just one point above 18th-placed West Ham, making the trip to Anfield a crucial test for a team desperately trying to avoid slipping into the relegation zone.
