Under Glasner, Hughes has featured in every match and formed a formidable midfield partnership with highly-regarded youngster Adam Wharton. Despite his contract initially set to expire in the summer, Hughes has participated in 31 matches across all competitions, earning him a well-deserved extension.
Having joined Palace from Watford in 2021, the 29-year-old Hughes has steadily risen through the ranks. Similarly, Ward, a stalwart at the club since 2012, was on the brink of departure before the club acknowledged his contributions and granted him another year.
The contract extensions for Hughes and Ward serve as a significant morale boost for the squad as they prepare to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday night. Currently in a strong run of form, Palace has gone undefeated in four games, winning three and drawing narrowly with Fulham.
The team has swiftly adapted to Glasner’s style of play since his appointment in February, with exciting talents like Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze showcasing their skills.
