AliousAnge Postecoglou Makes One Change to Tottenham Lineup for Liverpool Clash
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has made a solitary change to his starting XI for Sunday’s crucial Premier League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield.
Coming off a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea on Thursday night, their third consecutive league loss, Spurs are in dire need of a positive result to keep their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League alive.
In goal, Guglielmo Vicario retains his place, while Postecoglou has kept faith in the back four of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Emerson Royal.
The Australian manager has opted for a midfield reshuffle, with Rodrigo Bentancur coming into the starting lineup alongside Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr. Dejan Kulusevski, who started in midfield against Chelsea, has been pushed further forward into the attack.
In the attacking third, Postecoglou has named a front three comprising Kulusevski, Son Heung-min, and Brennan Johnson. James Maddison, who was dropped to the bench for the Chelsea game, remains among the substitutes.
Mikey Moore, who was part of the matchday squad at Stamford Bridge, once again finds himself on the substitutes’ bench.
Ahead of the pivotal clash, Postecoglou had nothing but praise for his counterpart, Jurgen Klopp, who will be taking charge of his penultimate home game at Anfield before departing Liverpool at the end of the season.
With their Champions League ambitions hanging by a thread, Tottenham will be desperate to end their wretched run of form and secure a vital victory against the soon-to-be-departing Klopp’s Liverpool side.
