The search for a new manager has proven difficult for Bayern in recent months, even though they recognized the need to appoint Tuchel’s successor at the season’s end.

A number of high-profile managers, including Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick, have declined the opportunity to take the helm at the German club. Julen Lopetegui and Unai Emery have also chosen to remain with their Premier League teams instead of moving to Germany.

Bayern has been compelled to consider other candidates due to the string of rejections, which has led them to explore the possibility of convincing Glasner to leave Palace and return to Germany.

As reported by BILD, following Rangnick’s open refusal to join Bayern, sporting directors Christoph Freund and Max Eberl reached out to Glasner to express their interest in him.

Glasner, aged 49, articulated his suitability for the role at Bayern, bolstered by his accomplishments at Selhurst Park. His proposal led Uli Hoeness, the president of Bayern, to extend a job offer to the Palace manager, assuring him that they were willing to pay a transfer fee for his services.

Steve Parish, the owner of Crystal Palace, quickly intervened, setting the price for Glasner’s departure at £86 million.

He justified the high fee by pointing to Glasner’s significant impact on the team and the improvement of several players.
Bayern, prepared to spend £15 million for the former Wolfsburg manager, found the demanded fee unattainable. Parish is determined to keep Glasner at Palace until his contract ends in 2026, despite Glasner’s ambition to manage a team in the Champions League.

Glasner has come to terms with the situation and is hopeful that he can continue to excel at Palace. The team’s current seven-match unbeaten streak and the potential to ascend the league table next season, assuming they can retain their star performers like Michael Olise, underscore their ambition.
