The Villans have expressed interest in the Spanish playmaker, who struggled for game time at PSG last season, featuring mostly as a substitute. With just 24 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt, Soler has been unable to break into the first team, often finding himself filling in at full-back just to get minutes on the pitch.
The 14-cap international had hoped that the 2022/23 campaign would be a breakthrough season for him in Paris, but it proved to be more of the same, mirroring his previous season where he also featured predominantly as a substitute. Soler’s form has dipped since his days at Valencia, where he scored 11 goals in consecutive La Liga seasons.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, PSG are willing to loan Soler out to Villa, with the Premier League club paying a portion of his £80,000-per-week wages. This temporary deal could provide the 24-year-old with an opportunity to regain his form and confidence, while also offering a fresh start at a new club.
Arsenal and Tottenham have also been offered the chance to sign Soler on a season-long loan, with PSG open to a permanent sale if the right price is met. However, the player himself is said to be against a permanent move away from the French capital, hoping to eventually establish himself as a starter at PSG.
With the right conditions now known to Aston Villa, they have a chance to bring in a talented midfielder who is eager to prove his worth, either on a temporary or permanent basis, and provide him with the platform to return to his best form.
