AliousCrystal Palace are prepared to make a move for Leeds United’s star winger Crysencio Summerville this summer, but only if they are forced to cash in on their own £60m-rated talent Eberechi Eze after his impressive performances for England at Euro 2024.
Leeds are bracing themselves for a major squad overhaul in the upcoming transfer window as they need to raise funds to comply with financial regulations, with reports suggesting they still owe £190m in outstanding transfer payments.
Dutch winger Summerville, valued between £35m-£40m, is expected to be one of their prime sellable assets, attracting interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth.
However, Palace have now emerged as potential suitors for the 21-year-old as they make contingency plans in case their own star Eze departs for around £60m amid concrete interest from Tottenham following his Euro 2024 exploits with England.
Eze’s scintillating form in the second half of last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in the final six games, earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man squad for the tournament.
With Spurs able to offer European football, it is feared Eze could be lured across London in what would be a major blow to Palace.
As a result, they have identified Summerville as a potential replacement should their talisman move on.
So while Palace hope to keep Eze, they are making contingencies by lining up a move for Leeds’ Summerville, as the financial realities may force both clubs into high-profile sales this summer
