One player Tudor will be especially grateful for is defender Kevin Danso. The centre-back has faced plenty of criticism this season, but his performance against Liverpool drew significant praise.
Journalist Alasdair Gold rated Danso’s display 8/10, calling him Spurs’ “best defender by a mile” as he battled through the match despite clearly struggling physically.
While Richarlison’s late goal will grab the headlines, Danso’s defensive contribution was equally vital. His efforts helped prevent Liverpool from adding to their tally from open play and kept Tottenham within touching distance.
Whether that performance—or the result itself—will be enough to secure Tudor’s future remains unclear. However, the team’s fighting spirit at Anfield suggested the manager’s message may finally be getting through to his squad.
Danso Silences His Critics
Danso’s display also went a long way toward answering his critics. The Austrian defender had been under heavy scrutiny from Spurs supporters earlier in the campaign, but his determination against Liverpool showed a different side to his game.
At times he was seen limping during the match yet continued to battle for every ball, demonstrating the commitment Tottenham will need if they are to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
If he can maintain that level of performance, Danso could cement his place as a regular starter.
For now, Tottenham fans must wait to see whether Tudor will remain in charge, though the result suggests he may at least be given the next match—against Atlético Madrid—to prove the performance at Anfield was not a one-off.
