Patrick Bamford has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold, suggesting the Liverpool star possesses a rare passing quality that sets him apart from any other player.
Speaking on the “My Mate’s A Footballer” podcast, the former Leeds striker marveled at Alexander-Arnold’s distribution skills when discussing England’s squad for Euro 2024.
“I’ve never seen anyone pass the ball like that,” Bamford stated when debating whether Alexander-Arnold or Kyle Walker should start at right-back for the Three Lions.
The 25-year-old Alexander-Arnold has been directly involved in 100 goals for Liverpool, underlining his offensive output from defense or midfield.
However, there are concerns over what role he may play at the Euros, with manager Gareth Southgate considering deploying him in a midfield role alongside Declan Rice to reduce defensive responsibilities.
This prospect has drawn criticism from Wayne Rooney, who believes Alexander-Arnold could be “all over the place” in midfield despite admiring his talent.
Nonetheless, Bamford expects Alexander-Arnold “will play at some point” due to his game-changing passing range, which could prove vital against deep-defending opponents.
