AliousAston Villa have been cautioned against a proposed swap deal that would send Douglas Luiz to Juventus in exchange for two players, with claims that the arrangement “doesn’t add up.”
Former Villa defender Alan Hutton voiced his concerns exclusively to Football Insider, indicating that a deal involving Samuel Iling-Junior and Weston McKennie would not provide good value for Villa.
According to a Football Insider report, Luiz has reached an agreement in principle with Juventus, with the clubs engaging in advanced discussions over a swap deal that includes a £20 million fee.
However, it has now been suggested that Juventus might be offloading players they no longer want in exchange for Villa’s star player.
Hutton argued that the deal undervalues Luiz, who is one of the key players in Unai Emery’s squad.

The proposed swap deal would see Iling-Junior, 20, return to England for the first time since leaving Chelsea’s academy in 2020.
McKennie, 25, had an underwhelming loan spell with Leeds United, which ended with the club’s relegation in 2023.
Hutton acknowledged that while Iling-Junior could be a valuable addition to Villa Park, he was less enthusiastic about McKennie.
He emphasized that he would prefer Villa to receive a full £50 million fee for Luiz.
“I like Junior; he’s a talented winger and a really good player,” he told Football Insider. “He’s technically gifted, enjoys running at defenders, and can create opportunities. I understand the appeal.
“But McKennie, I’m not sure about. He’s been hyped for years, but I’ve never seen him stand out.
“Douglas Luiz is crucial to Villa’s success.
If Juventus want to offer £50 million, that’s beneficial for the club.
But giving us two players they’re trying to offload in exchange for one of our best players, who helped us reach the Champions League, doesn’t make sense.
“They’re getting a top player from a Champions League team, and we’re getting two players they don’t want? It’s a baffling proposition.
