AliousAston Villa’s January signing Kosta Nedeljković, an 18-year-old right-back from Red Star Belgrade, is set to return to Villa Park this summer after spending the remainder of the recently concluded season on loan at his former club.
The Premier League side will now have to make a decision regarding the Serbian youngster’s future.
In a detailed interview with Nogomania.rs, Nedeljković expressed his desire to be a part of Unai Emery’s plans for the upcoming season, but his immediate focus is on the pre-season tour with Villa.
“I believe that I will be able to fight at Aston Villa, just like I did with Zvezda [Red Star Belgrade]. I always give my best, and I think it pays off.
I have always done excellent preparations, now the tour to America is coming up, so we will see what it will look like,” he said.
The Serbia U19 international is confident that his qualities will allow him to succeed in the Premier League, which he believes is an “ideal” league for his style of play.
“In England, the energy and pace are important, especially since it’s my greatest quality. Tackles, shots, and actions.
Strong intensity describes me, and that’s my style of play,” Nedeljković explained.
“In Spain and other countries, technique is more important, the players are lower in my position, and it’s different.
The Premier League has always been the best for me. The most demanding of all. I think I’ll do well.”
While Nedeljković’s ultimate goal is to be in Aston Villa’s starting XI from August, he remains open to the possibility of being sent out on loan by the club during the summer transfer window.
“I expect myself to be in the starting 11 from August. For me to be in the combination at all will really be a success and to enter the Premier League.
In Belgrade, I have two or three training sessions a day, I train to be more prepared than ever,” he added.
“I want to be at a higher level, to be able to show myself in preparation and to ‘cement’ the place.
No matter where the loan is, I don’t have a problem with it.”
When asked about the prospect of a loan move to the Championship, Nedeljković emphasized his desire for regular playing time to continue his development.
“If it happens, I don’t have a problem with that. Whatever happens, I need to play. If it’s Aston Villa, it will be a great success.
I’m ready, and I believe I’ll play right away. I’m not thinking about not being there.
If it doesn’t happen, it’s up to me to play and progress, so wherever,” the defender stressed.
Ultimately, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery and director Monchi will have to make a decision on Nedeljković’s immediate future, weighing the options of integrating him into the first-team squad or sending him out on loan for further development.
