The 25-year-old Eze has caught the attention of Spurs with his impressive form, and reports suggest he has a £60 million release clause in his current contract with Palace.
While it remains uncertain whether Tottenham will trigger that clause, it is understood that Eze shares the same agent as Postecoglou, Son Heung-min, and several other Spurs players.
Hutton believes that while it will still require a substantial fee to pry Eze away from Selhurst Park, conversations regarding a potential move to North London have likely already begun behind the scenes due to the shared agent connection.
“I’m pretty sure it would help,” Hutton told Tottenham News. “All these chats aren’t all in the public domain, but I can imagine they’re going on in the background, especially when they’ve got that link.”
Hutton praised Eze as an “outstanding footballer” and a “really, really talented” player who would improve Tottenham’s squad. He believes Eze would be an automatic starter, whether as a number 10 or in another attacking position, and would help elevate the team’s performance.
While acknowledging that Eze’s potential transfer fee could be around £50-60 million, Hutton suggests that the shared agent connection can aid in facilitating the move.
Eze’s arrival at Tottenham would not only boost their chances of securing a top-four finish next season but also alleviate the goalscoring burden on players like James Maddison and Son Heung-min.
As Spurs look to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign, Eze’s qualities align with Postecoglou’s playing style, and the personal terms are unlikely to be an issue due to the existing relationship between the club and the player’s agent.
