AliousFormer Leeds United midfielder David Norris has weighed in on the increasing speculation linking Crysencio Summerville with a move away from Elland Road this summer.
Norris believes the Dutch winger is more likely to join a club like Aston Villa or Newcastle United, rather than an elite side such as Liverpool or Chelsea who have also been credited with interest.
Norris stated, “One of the big boys might take a punt on him but I think it would be a bigger gamble with the money that’s being talked about.
These clubs might want someone a bit more tried and tested at the level.” However, he didn’t rule out Chelsea as a possibility given their recent struggles.
With Leeds failing to secure Premier League promotion, the sale of Summerville, who impressed in the top-flight last season, is expected to be sanctioned to balance the books and meet financial fair play regulations.
The 22-year-old will also be keen on a transfer to play at the highest level and boost his chances of a Netherlands call-up.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Brighton have made contact for Summerville, while Chelsea and Liverpool also retain keen interest, though a deal may prove difficult.
Leeds will be pushing for a relatively quick sale to address loan repayments and costs, while Summerville would prefer joining a new club for pre-season preparation.
The intense interest suits Leeds, who have been resigned to losing their prized asset if promotion was not achieved.
