AliousReports suggest that Chelsea’s pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise has ended in disappointment, with the talented winger opting to join Bayern Munich instead. This marks the second time Chelsea has failed to secure Olise’s signature, having also missed out last summer.
Olise, 22, has been a standout performer for Palace since joining from Reading in 2021. His exceptional 2023-24 season, which saw him score 10 goals and provide 5 assists in just 18 league appearances, attracted interest from several top clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.
Despite Chelsea’s longstanding interest and authorization from Palace to discuss terms with Olise’s representatives, the allure of Champions League football at Bayern Munich proved decisive. The Bundesliga giants, under new manager Vincent Kompany, are set to significantly bolster their attack with this acquisition as they aim to reclaim their domestic dominance.
Olise’s current contract at Palace includes a complex release clause, potentially exceeding £60m, which Chelsea were hesitant to meet. The Frenchman is reportedly in line for a substantial salary increase at Bayern, with potential earnings of £220,000 per week, more than doubling his current £100,000 weekly wage at Palace.
