AliousAccording to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Yankubah Minteh has turned down an offer from Everton in favor of a £33 million move to Brighton & Hove Albion from Newcastle United.
Plettenberg reported on his X account that the winger is expected to complete his medical and finalize the transfer to the AMEX Stadium on Sunday (30 June).
Everton’s financial constraints make it difficult for them to invest over £30 million in a single player.
With Iliman Ndiaye reportedly close to joining Everton for around £20 million, it was unlikely that both transfers could be completed without the club making a significant sale.
While Newcastle’s interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains, their need to sell players before the month’s end to avoid breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) meant they had to accept the highest offer for Minteh.
Although Everton has missed out on Minteh, the club’s attacking options are still being bolstered.
Jack Harrison has already returned to the club, and with Ndiaye’s imminent arrival, manager Sean Dyche should have sufficient depth in his offensive lineup.
This development highlights the complex financial considerations and swift decision-making required in the modern transfer market, particularly for clubs operating under tight budgetary constraints.
