AliousItalian football insider Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Tuesday that AC Milan has arranged a new discussion with Tottenham Hotspur, set for Wednesday or Thursday, regarding the potential transfer of Emerson Royal.
Di Marzio later added that the Serie A club is determined to negotiate “until the very end” to secure the deal.
While Di Marzio didn’t mention specific figures, Gazzetta dello Sport has provided more details on the financial aspects and Milan’s efforts to acquire the Tottenham right-back.
According to Gazzetta, the transfer talks have reached a “crucial stage,” with Milan scheduled to meet with relevant parties in the coming hours.
The Italian club has reportedly made significant progress in persuading Spurs to lower their initial asking price.
Tottenham’s original demand was €30 million for the Brazilian fullback.
However, Emerson’s reduced role under manager Ange Postecoglou last season has led Milan to push for a lower fee, somewhere between €18-20 million, or €15 million plus performance-related bonuses.
While Tottenham hasn’t yet agreed to these reduced figures, they are reportedly “willing to listen” to offers.
It remains uncertain whether an agreement will be reached during the upcoming meeting, but the report suggests that these are “decisive hours” for Milan’s pursuit of Emerson.
Despite receiving offers from other clubs, Emerson is said to prefer a move to Milan.
He believes he can secure regular playing time at San Siro, which he sees as crucial for regaining his place in the Brazilian national team.
