AliousEverton’s Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, has expressed his enthusiasm for young talent Harrison Armstrong, who has recently signed his first professional contract with the club.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who joined Everton at the age of five, has committed his future to the Toffees until 2027.
The club officially announced Armstrong’s signing on July 3rd, adding another promising name to their list of young talents progressing through the ranks.
This follows Everton’s end-of-season announcement regarding which youth players would be staying with the club.
Thelwell praised Armstrong’s dedication, stating, “This contract reflects Harrison’s hard work and progress at Everton. Having been with us for 13 years, he’s grown through various age groups.
We’re excited to see his continued development under our excellent Academy staff at Finch Farm.”
Despite the turbulent times Everton has faced recently, the club’s continued focus on youth development is a positive sign.
Armstrong has shown significant progress, breaking into the Under-21 side under Paul Tait towards the end of the 2023-24 season.
He featured in nine of their last ten league matches, following 18 appearances with Leighton Baines’ U18 team.
Coinciding with Armstrong’s news, Everton also confirmed the acquisition of 16-year-old striker Braiden Graham from Linfield, where he became the club’s youngest-ever player last season at just 15.
Armstrong, a central midfielder, described signing his first professional contract as a “special” moment, comparing it to his breakthrough into the U21 side.
He revealed that he models his game on Real Madrid legend Luka Modric, particularly admiring the Croatian’s technical skills.
This signing underscores Everton’s commitment to nurturing young talent, with Armstrong potentially representing a valuable asset for the club’s future.
