Aston Villa has secured the future of promising right-back Kaine Kesler-Hayden with a contract extension.

The 21-year-old defender, whose previous agreement was set to expire in 2026, has now committed to the club for an extended period.

Kesler-Hayden’s journey with Villa has been marked by loan spells and recalls.

He joined Plymouth Argyle on loan at the start of the previous season, aiming for his first full Championship campaign.

However, Villa recalled him in January, a move that surprised Plymouth.

This followed a similar pattern from the 2022/23 season when he was loaned to Huddersfield Town before being recalled midway through the season.

The defender’s return to Villa Park in January allowed manager Unai Emery to assess him more closely at the Bodymoor Heath training ground.

Kesler-Hayden’s potential was evident early on, as he captained Villa to FA Youth Cup success in 2021 after progressing through the club’s academy.

Last season proved significant for Kesler-Hayden’s development at Villa.

He made his Premier League debut in a 2-0 victory over Wolves at Villa Park in March and went on to feature in two more league matches against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

Additionally, he marked his European debut for Villa as a substitute in a match against Olympiacos.

In related news, Villa has also secured the futures of several other young talents.

Charlie Pavey, I-Lani Edwards, Sam Lewis, and Ajani Burchall have all signed their first professional contracts with the club, underscoring Villa’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
