Palace’s interest in Edwards has intensified following Michael Olise’s departure to Bayern Munich, creating a vacancy on the right wing.
The club is pursuing players who offer good value rather than those commanding hefty transfer fees.
Edwards’ situation at Sporting CP has become complicated, with the player no longer a regular starter under manager Ruben Amorim.
This has led Sporting to consider selling him for a reasonable price, especially given Edwards’ desire to return to the Premier League.
While Palace’s initial €15 million offer is likely to be turned down, a bid in the €25-30 million range might be more successful.
There’s also reported interest from Saudi Arabia, but Edwards is believed to prefer a Premier League move.
Tottenham, Edwards’ former club, were once considered favorites to sign him due to a 35% sell-on clause in his contract.
However, their interest appears to have cooled, potentially leaving Palace as the front-runner for his signature.
The transfer situation remains fluid, with Palace needing to increase their offer significantly if they want to secure Edwards’ services for the upcoming season.
