AliousCrystal Palace is reportedly interested in signing another player who has made his mark outside the Premier League.
The club has a history of acquiring talents from the English Football League (EFL), such as Ebere Eze, Michael Olise, and Yannick Bolasie.
According to The Sun, Crystal Palace’s Director of Football, Dougie Freedman, is targeting Plymouth’s goalkeeper Michael Cooper.
The 24-year-old has spent his entire career with Plymouth since emerging from their academy in 2009, making 161 appearances for Wayne Rooney’s side.
Cooper is reportedly hesitating to sign a new contract with Plymouth, which has caught Freedman’s attention.
While Crystal Palace already has goalkeepers Dean Henderson, Sam Johnstone, and Remi Matthews, Nottingham Forest’s renewed interest in Johnstone might explain the pursuit of Cooper.
Cooper, who made the EFL League One Team of the Season in 2023, appeared in 19 Championship matches last season, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 24 goals.
Any potential deal for Cooper might involve Crystal Palace’s David Ozoh.
London News Online reported that Plymouth is interested in loaning the 19-year-old Ozoh for the 2024/25 season.
Luton Town is also keen on Ozoh, surprisingly for a permanent transfer.
Given these circumstances, Plymouth might request Ozoh’s inclusion in any deal that would see Cooper move to Selhurst Park.
