AliousCrystal Palace is pursuing Marcus Edwards, a former Tottenham player, with plans to submit an improved offer after their initial £12.6m bid was rejected by Sporting CP.
However, Edwards isn’t the only ex-Spurs player on Dougie Freedman’s radar.
According to Turkiye Gazetesi, Crystal Palace is also interested in Galatasaray defender Davinson Sanchez.
The Turkish club is reportedly willing to sell Sanchez for €15m (£13m), a significant profit on the £8.1m they paid Tottenham in September 2023. Everton and Napoli are also monitoring the situation.
Sanchez has had a successful season, helping Galatasaray win the Super Lig and playing a crucial role in Colombia’s run to the Copa America final.
He made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
However, Crystal Palace’s need for Sanchez is questionable.
Manager Oliver Glasner already has several options for his three centre-back positions, including Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Chris Richards, new signing Chadi Riad, and Rob Holding. Unless Guehi, who’s attracting interest from Arsenal, leaves the club, signing Sanchez may not be necessary.
It’s worth noting that transfer rumors from Turkish sources can be unreliable during the busy transfer season.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace has also made a bid for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe, indicating their active presence in the transfer market.
