Leeds United has joined the competition for Crystal Palace’s promising young player, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
The Daily Mail reports that Leeds is among several clubs interested in the winger, who might leave Selhurst Park before the transfer window closes.
Rak-Sakyi had an impressive 2022/23 season on loan at Charlton Athletic, scoring 15 goals and providing 9 assists across 49 appearances.
However, injuries hampered his progress last season at Crystal Palace.
Despite Michael Olise’s departure to Bayern Munich, Rak-Sakyi is not expected to play a significant role for Palace in the 2024/25 season.
The club prefers to loan him to a Championship side.
Southampton’s inquiry was rejected as Palace doesn’t want Rak-Sakyi joining another Premier League team.
Other interested clubs include Sheffield United and Sunderland.
Leeds’ interest is unsurprising given Rak-Sakyi’s quality and potential impact in the Championship.
The Whites also need to fill gaps in their wing positions following Jaidon Anthony’s departure and potential exits of other wingers.
Southampton has reportedly had two bids rejected for Rak-Sakyi.
If Rak-Sakyi considers joining Leeds, he should seek assurances from manager Daniel Farke about playing time.
While Leeds could benefit from his addition, the player isn’t guaranteed a starting position given their current options.
A loan deal could be ideal for Leeds, but Rak-Sakyi needs to prioritize regular playing time.
If Leeds can offer this, Elland Road could be an attractive destination for the young talent.
