AliousAccording to Alan Hutton, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is likely to prioritize signing a new striker over Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze this summer.
Eze, who reportedly has a £60 million release clause, has attracted Tottenham’s interest.
However, the club is also in the market for a striker to replace Harry Kane.
Hutton believes that while Eze would significantly improve Tottenham’s chances of breaking into the top four, Levy will probably allocate most of the transfer budget to strengthening the forward line.
Hutton praised Eze’s skills, describing him and Michail Olise as “frightening” players who can “do everything” and are nightmares for defenders.
He acknowledged that having a player like Eze would make challenging for the top four easier.
However, Hutton expressed doubt about Tottenham’s ability to afford both Eze and a new striker.
He believes the striker situation remains a priority for the club.
While Tottenham fans would love to see both Eze and a new striker arrive, Levy’s historical approach to transfers makes such a double deal unlikely.
Strikers are typically expensive, and a Kane replacement would likely cost as much as Eze.
There’s a slight possibility that if Tottenham generates additional funds through player sales, Levy’s stance on a potential double deal could change.
However, at this stage of the transfer window, such a scenario seems highly improbable.
