AliousAC Milan are reportedly nearing a deal to acquire Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal, following an initial rejected bid.
The 25-year-old Brazilian right-back struggled for regular playing time under Ange Postecoglou last season, making only 22 league appearances with 11 starts.
Pedro Porro has been the preferred choice at right-back and is expected to maintain that position.
Royal is currently in Japan with Tottenham for pre-season preparations.
Milan, in need of a right-back, had their first offer of around £8.5m turned down.
However, negotiations have resumed, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the clubs are now just £2.5m apart in their valuations.
Personal terms have reportedly been agreed between Milan and Royal.
The defender’s current Tottenham contract runs until 2026, but Milan is prepared to offer him a five-year deal.
Spurs are open to selling several players this summer, having already transferred Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille.
Tottenham have been active in the transfer market, securing Timo Werner on another loan and spending nearly £40m on Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.
Royal is said to be keen on the move to Milan, possibly turning down offers from Saudi Arabia.
If the transfer goes through at the expected price, Spurs would recover most of the £21.1m they paid Barcelona for Royal in 2021.
During his time at Tottenham, Royal has made 101 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
