According to Marca, Crystal Palace has identified Lorient striker Mohamed Bamba as their primary target to strengthen their attack this summer.
This comes after losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and amid rumors of Jean-Philippe Mateta potentially leaving the club.
Mateta’s impressive end-of-season form, scoring 14 goals in 16 games under Oliver Glasner, has attracted interest from clubs like Roma. However, Crystal Palace is proactively planning for his potential departure.
Bamba, an Ivory Coast international, had a standout 2023/24 season.
He scored six goals in 15 appearances for Wolfsberg before moving to Lorient, where he netted eight goals in just six league appearances.
Overall, the 20-year-old forward scored 17 goals across all competitions last season.
His performances have also caught the attention of La Liga club Getafe, who are looking to replace Mason Greenwood.
Despite his limited experience in top European leagues, Bamba has been described as “outstanding” by ESPN.
Crystal Palace’s interest in Bamba demonstrates their commitment to reinforcing their attacking options, regardless of Mateta’s future at Selhurst Park.
