AliousTottenham Hotspur is actively pursuing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, despite his £65 million release clause.
This high price has deterred other potential buyers, but Solanke remains a top target for manager Ange Postecoglou as Spurs intensify their search for a striker.
Solanke had an impressive last season, scoring 21 goals across all competitions.
This tally surpassed both Heung-Min Son (17 goals) and Richarlison (11 goals), who often played as strikers for Spurs.
Despite his performance, Solanke narrowly missed out on England’s Euro squad.
If the transfer goes through, it would benefit Liverpool, who sold Solanke to Bournemouth for £20 million in 2019.
The deal included a 20% sell-on clause for any profit, meaning Liverpool could receive £9 million if Spurs meets the release clause.
Solanke’s arrival could potentially lead to Richarlison’s departure, with several clubs, including some in Saudi Arabia, showing interest in the Brazilian.
Tottenham’s transfer activity has been relatively quiet so far, with Leeds’ Archie Gray being their only major signing at £35 million.
In contrast, defender Joe Rodon has moved to Leeds for around £10 million.The team has been busy with pre-season tours in South Korea and Japan, including a recent 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
They have a rematch scheduled for the coming weekend.
