AliousEverton manager Sean Dyche has acknowledged that the club has been forced to sign players who are still developing due to financial constraints.
Despite these challenges, Everton has managed to navigate the transfer window carefully, selling players for around £70 million while bringing in five new recruits.
Among the new signings, only Jack Harrison, on loan from Leeds United for a second season, has substantial Premier League experience.
The other new arrivals – Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, Jake O’Brien, and Jesper Lindstrom – have limited or no experience in England’s top flight.
Dyche expressed a desire for more experienced players as Everton prepares for their 2024-25 Premier League opener against Brighton on August 17.
However, given the club’s financial losses of nearly £400 million over the past four years, signing players with potential for growth and increased value has been crucial.
The manager admitted that Everton has “no choice” but to focus on such signings due to the club’s rapidly changing financial situation.
He praised the club’s efforts in securing talented players despite the difficulties.In a recent pre-season friendly against Preston North End, which Everton won 3-0, new signings O’Brien and Lindstrom both scored.
Dyche was pleased with the team’s progress, noting improvements in sharpness and flexibility in attack.
The manager emphasized his desire for a versatile attacking approach, praising the team’s ability to mix long balls to striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin with play between the lines.
He also highlighted Jack Harrison’s successful performances in the number 10 role last season.
