AliousAccording to TEAMtalk, Everton’s sporting director Kevin Thelwell is very interested in signing Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto this summer.
Despite having a previous bid rejected, the Toffees remain keen on the Italian international.
The report suggests that Gnonto is open to a move to Goodison Park but, unlike last summer, won’t publicly push for a transfer from Leeds.
Gnonto’s potential signing makes sense for Everton, given their long-standing interest in the player since Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.
Last year, Gnonto even submitted a transfer request to force a move, though it didn’t materialize.
Everton’s renewed interest indicates their continued admiration for the player.
Manager Sean Dyche has already strengthened his attacking options with Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye, but Gnonto could provide a strong central option and valuable versatility.
Reports suggest a fee of around £22 million might be sufficient to secure Gnonto’s services.
Given the 20-year-old’s quality, this seems like a worthwhile investment for Everton.
