AliousLeeds United are looking to strengthen their squad in the final weeks of the transfer window by exploring options in the Premier League loan market.
This tactic proved successful for them last year when they brought in players like Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, and Jaidon Anthony on loan deals.
With four loan spots still available, Leeds are linked with moves for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hugo Bueno and Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
However, the club’s inability to guarantee regular playing time has made these deals difficult to complete.
Sheffield United appear to have won the race to sign Rak-Sakyi on loan from Palace, agreeing to pay a seven-figure loan fee and cover his entire salary.
But the deal includes a January recall clause for Palace, which could be a potential issue for Sheffield United if the player is recalled mid-season.
As an alternative, Leeds are focusing their efforts on a permanent move for Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe.
While no official offer has been made yet, the two clubs are said to be moving closer to an agreement, with Leeds willing to increase their initial £7 million bid to match Norwich’s valuation, which is believed to be between £15-20 million.
Leeds are keen to move quickly on the Rowe deal, as the player is attracting interest from other Premier League and overseas clubs.
Securing Rowe’s signature could be a key part of Leeds’ strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
