The club still values his talent, with The Mail reporting him as a ‘key target’.
The main obstacle remains Everton’s £70 million asking price, which United considers too high.United’s limit is £60 million for Branthwaite, who has agreed personal terms with them.
He’s told Everton they must match United’s offer for him to consider a new contract.
For the deal to work, United would need to sell players, particularly Harry Maguire, to offset costs.
Yoro has replaced Raphael Varane, and de Ligt has effectively replaced Victor Lindelof, who’s set to be sold.
While United still admires Branthwaite, several factors need to align before the transfer deadline for a deal to materialize, including Everton lowering their asking price and United successfully selling some players.
