AliousCrystal Palace is exploring options in the Bundesliga, with Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix and Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou identified as potential replacements for Marc Guehi, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Guehi, who impressed for England at Euro 2024, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs. Newcastle United has had multiple bids rejected for the 24-year-old defender, with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish stating he would only be sold for “superstar money.”
Despite having two years left on his contract, Palace is preparing for the possibility of Guehi’s departure. Manager Oliver Glasner is particularly interested in Lacroix, while Kossounou is another consideration, depending on Jonathan Tah’s potential move to Bayern Munich.
Lacroix, 24, has been a key player for Wolfsburg since 2020, making 129 appearances and scoring seven goals. Wolfsburg manager Ralph Hasenhuttl expects Lacroix to stay, but interest remains high.
Kossounou, 23, has also drawn attention from other Premier League clubs in the past, including Tottenham and Liverpool.
Romano reports that Newcastle United is growing confident about signing Guehi, with ongoing negotiations between the clubs. Palace values Guehi at £65 million, a significant increase from the £18 million they paid Chelsea for him in 2021. Since joining Palace, Guehi has made 111 appearances, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
