AliousIpswich Town has reportedly secured a loan deal for Kalvin Phillips, the former Leeds United midfielder currently with Manchester City.
Despite interest from Everton and Fulham, the 28-year-old England international has chosen to join the newly promoted Premier League side.
An agreement in principle has been reached, with Phillips expected to undergo a medical on Thursday.
Ipswich faces a tight deadline to complete the registration process if they want Phillips available for their upcoming match against Liverpool on Saturday.
Since his £42 million move to Manchester City in 2022, Phillips has struggled to make an impact under Pep Guardiola.
His loan spell at West Ham was also unsuccessful, marred by limited playing time and disciplinary issues.
In other transfer news, Sheffield United, competing with Leeds in the Championship, has signed goalkeeper Michael Cooper from Plymouth Argyle for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old expressed enthusiasm about joining the club, citing the manager’s positive portrayal of the team’s ambition and fan base as key factors in his decision.
Cooper acknowledged his fond memories at Plymouth but stated that the opportunity to join Sheffield United was too significant to pass up.
