SAD NEWS: “THE GREAT ESCAPE! Why Leeds Players Are Deserting Elland Road in Droves”

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has revealed he was unaware of release clauses in some players’ contracts when he joined the club.

This comes as star player Georginio Rutter is set to join Brighton after they triggered his £40 million release clause..

Despite Leeds’ willingness to offer Rutter a new contract, Brighton is confident of securing the deal.

If Rutter leaves, he’ll be the third major player to depart Leeds this summer, following Crysencio Summerville’s £25 million move to West Ham and Archie Gray’s £30 million transfer to Tottenham.

Farke expects Rutter to leave, describing an emotional goodbye between the player and the team.

He admitted to being unaware of these release clauses when he signed his contract a year ago, only learning about them later.

Leeds has already lost seven players this summer, including Glen Kamara, Diego Llorente, Marc Roca, Charlie Cresswell, and Kris Klaesson.

After a 3-3 draw with Portsmouth in their Championship opener and a 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup, Leeds is preparing for a crucial few weeks in the transfer market.

With promotion as their goal, the club will need to strengthen the team significantly in the wake of these departures.
