AliousLeeds United is seeking new players after losing several key team members during the current transfer window.
Crysencio Summerville has moved to West Ham United, Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur, and most recently, Georginio Rutter to Brighton and Hove Albion.
This has created a need for new attacking players.
One potential target, Jack Clarke of Sunderland, is reportedly having difficulty agreeing to a new contract with his current club.
According to TBR, Leeds United has shown interest in signing Clarke.
Alan Nixon reports that Sunderland is trying to secure Clarke with a new contract to ward off interest from other clubs, but so far, Clarke hasn’t found any of the offers appealing.
This situation could present an opportunity for Leeds to make a move for Clarke in the remaining days of the transfer window.
Clarke has performed exceptionally well in the Championship over the past two seasons with Sunderland, scoring 24 goals and providing 16 assists.
He’s already scored this season as well. Due to his strong performance, Sunderland values him at around £18 million, which has deterred some potential buyers.
However, Leeds United has raised nearly £140 million from player sales once the Rutter deal is completed.
This puts them in a good financial position to potentially afford Clarke’s transfer fee.
The transfer window closes in 12 days, so Leeds will need to act quickly if they decide to pursue Clarke.
