SKIPP’S EXIT EXPOSES TOTTENHAM’S DEFENSIVE FLANK! “No New Signings Planned, Leaving Fans Worried”

According to Dan Kilpatrick of The Standard, Tottenham Hotspur is not planning to sign a new defensive midfielder despite Oliver Skipp’s imminent departure to Leicester City.

Skipp is expected to finalize his £25 million move to Leicester today, having already passed his medical.

However, Tottenham doesn’t intend to replace him with another defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.

New signing Archie Gray is set to take Skipp’s place in the squad.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has reportedly been impressed by both Gray and Lucas Bergvall during pre-season.

Gray might even make his debut against Leicester, as Yves Bissouma is suspended for the match.

This suggests that Tottenham is comfortable cashing in on Skipp without bringing in another midfielder.

The club seems content with their options in the defensive midfield role, including Gray, Bissouma, and Rodrigo Bentancur.

However, Tottenham might still look to add a box-to-box midfielder before the transfer deadline.

While Bergvall has shown promise, Postecoglou is likely to use him as a backup to James Maddison in the number ten role this season, potentially moving him to a deeper position as he develops.
