AliousIgor Tudor’s turbulent spell at Tottenham Hotspur has come to an end after just six weeks in charge. Following his departure, Spurs are now aiming to have a new manager in place before their next Premier League fixture against Sunderland on April 12.
The club is reportedly exploring options across Europe, with former Brighton & Hove Albion and Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi emerging as the early favourite. Adi Hütter, who recently coached AS Monaco, has also been linked. Meanwhile, Sean Dyche is not being considered, having already ruled himself out of contention.
Tottenham are prioritising a data-driven approach and appear focused on appointing a foreign coach capable of steering them clear of relegation. In the meantime, Bruno Saltor will oversee training sessions for players not on international duty, with the club hopeful of making a swift appointment in the coming days.
Tudor’s exit, officially described as mutual, comes just a week after the damaging defeat to Nottingham Forest, a result that left Spurs hovering just above the relegation zone. The Croatian failed to secure a single Premier League victory during his brief tenure, making his appointment a costly misstep.
The club had initially delayed taking action following news of Tudor’s father’s passing, publicly offering their condolences during that difficult period. However, with no matches scheduled until the Sunderland clash, both parties have now agreed to part ways.
In an official statement, Tottenham confirmed Tudor’s immediate departure and also announced the exits of his coaching staff, thanking them for their efforts over the past six weeks. The club also extended support to Tudor and his family following their recent bereavement, adding that an update on a new head coach will be provided soon.
Tudor, 47, had been brought in after the dismissal of Thomas Frank, with Spurs already in a precarious league position. His tenure began poorly, with five consecutive defeats, before a draw against Liverpool and a Champions League win over Atletico Madrid briefly lifted spirits.
However, the European victory was not enough to secure progression to the quarter-finals, leaving Premier League survival as the club’s sole priority.
Tudor’s departure means Tottenham are now searching for their fourth manager in under a year, having previously parted ways with Ange Postecoglou last summer despite his Europa League success.
