Respected journalist Ben Jacobs has told GIVEMESPORT that Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are among the more likely destinations for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah this summer.
Chelsea has been active in both buying and selling players, with Chalobah expected to leave before the transfer deadline.
Villa has already made eight new signings, including Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen. With a week left in the transfer window, center-back remains one of the few positions Villa manager Unai Emery hasn’t strengthened.
Chalobah, who has fallen out of favor at Chelsea, could move in the final days of the window.
Jacobs reports that Chelsea is relaxed about the situation, expecting Chalobah to likely remain in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old defender, valued at £25 million, is a Chelsea academy product who made his first-team debut in 2021 after several loan spells.
Despite being under contract until 2028, Chalobah’s limited playing time last season (17 appearances) suggests a move is likely.
Jacobs stated: “Crystal Palace and Aston Villa appear to be two viable destinations.
Chelsea is confident that a suitable option for both Chalobah and the club will emerge before the window closes, likely within the Premier League.”
Meanwhile, Villa continues to show interest in Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida.
Dutch outlet De Telegraaf reports that Villa has been monitoring the right-back all summer. RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain are also potential suitors for the 24-year-old.
However, Villa has not yet made a formal offer.Geertruida, who has spent his entire career with Feyenoord, has made over 200 senior appearances for the club.
His current contract expires in less than a year. He also has 11 caps for the Dutch national team since his debut in March 2023.
