AliousLeeds United’s efforts to sign Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing have hit a snag, as he’s reportedly unwilling to leave the Premier League for the Championship, according to The Mirror.
Leeds has been actively seeking to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes, with a focus on midfield reinforcements following the departures of Archie Gray and Glen Kamara earlier in the summer.
Billing, who has three years left on his Bournemouth contract but isn’t part of manager Andoni Iraola’s plans, was a target for Leeds.
However, despite his situation at Bournemouth, the Danish player isn’t interested in moving down to the Championship.
Journalist Alan Nixon reported that Leeds, Burnley, and Sheffield United – all Championship clubs – were pursuing Billing, with Sheffield United apparently in the lead.
But David Anderson, writing for The Mirror, now says all three clubs have been rebuffed due to Billing’s preference to stay in the top flight.
Leeds is also considering other options. They’ve shown interest in Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, but their £13 million bid was rejected.
They’re now looking at alternatives like Dusseldorf’s Japanese international Ao Tanaka.
Despite the rejected bid, sources told GIVEMESPORT that Hamer would be open to joining Leeds, with personal terms unlikely to be an issue.
Additionally, Fabrizio Romano exclusively informed GIVEMESPORT that Leeds is interested in Freiburg forward Roland Sallai.
The club is expected to be busy in the transfer market before the window closes on Friday, August 30th at 11pm.
