AliousCrystal Palace is still considering Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, despite agreeing to a £17.5m deal with Wolfsburg for Maxence Lacroix.
The club is also expected to finalize Eddie Nketiah’s signing today.
Palace’s interest in defensive reinforcements comes after selling Joachim Andersen to Fulham and amid uncertainty about Marc Guehi’s future, with Newcastle showing continued interest.
While Lacroix is set to provide defensive cover, Palace may seek another defender before the transfer deadline, especially if Guehi leaves.
Chalobah, who’s been sidelined at Chelsea by Enzo Maresca, is among the potential targets.
Chalobah, 25, is currently training separately from Chelsea’s first team.
Maresca has stated that Chalobah and other out-of-favor players like Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell won’t play this season if they remain at Chelsea after Friday.
Separately, Palace is close to signing Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal for £25m plus £5m in add-ons, after he turned down a move to Nottingham Forest.
Coinciding with Nketiah’s arrival, Odsonne Edouard is expected to leave on loan.
Palace plans to extend Edouard’s contract before loaning him to Ipswich Town.
