Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso may finally be leaving the club as the summer transfer window comes to a close, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Lo Celso is likely to return to Real Betis, the club Spurs bought him from in 2019.
This move is made possible by Betis midfielder Nabil Fekir’s expected transfer to the Qatari Stars League.
Interestingly, Fekir had replaced Lo Celso at Betis when the latter joined Spurs five years ago, and now the roles are reversed.
While Lo Celso has been linked with various clubs this summer, including Aston Villa and Fenerbahce, a return to Betis seems most probable.
At Tottenham, Lo Celso has fallen out of favor, with even young talent Lucas Bergvall ahead of him in the lineup.
Despite showing flashes of talent at Spurs and for Argentina’s national team, Lo Celso’s time in North London hasn’t been successful.
However, his departure is likely to be met with good wishes from Spurs fans, acknowledging that sometimes things simply don’t work out in football.
