AliousRoberto De Zerbi has agreed to take over as the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, with the Italian emerging as the club’s preferred successor to Igor Tudor after negotiations were successfully completed.
According to reports from The Times, De Zerbi is set to sign a five-year deal, with an official announcement expected within the next 24 hours. The former Olympique de Marseille boss, who left his role in February, will now focus on steering Spurs away from relegation danger in the Premier League.
Tottenham currently sit 17th in the table, just one point above the drop zone, after a dismal run of 13 games without a win. Tudor’s brief spell in charge lasted only 44 days, yielding just a single league point after he replaced Thomas Frank.
Several candidates were considered for the role, including Adi Hütter, Edin Terzić, Marco Rose, Ryan Mason, Robbie Keane, and Sean Dyche. However, De Zerbi remained the leading choice for chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange throughout the process.
The club’s leadership is under mounting scrutiny following a chaotic campaign, prompting yet another managerial change. The timing has been aided by the international break and the FA Cup quarter-finals — a competition Spurs are no longer involved in.
De Zerbi is expected to take charge of his first match on April 12, with an away fixture against Sunderland AFC. Tottenham’s struggles in 2026 have been stark, with no league victories this year — recording five draws and eight defeats in their last 13 outings. Tudor’s final game ended in a heavy 3-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest on March 22.
